Thomas Tuchel’s England squad announcement press conference ahead of the March international friendlies against Uruguay and Japan at Wembley Stadium.

Tuchel explains why he has named a larger group and split the camp into two parts, with some players joining later after heavy workloads during the club season.

He discusses the recalls for Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo, says it is “nothing against Man Utd”, and explains why he wants to look at new options before the World Cup. Tuchel also covers Trent Alexander-Arnold being left out, the call ups for Dominic Solanke, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, James Garner, Jason Steele and Fikayo Tomori, plus Jude Bellingham’s fitness and the competition for places in his final squad plans.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was the big omission from England’s huge 35-man squad as Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo were called up for the first time under Thomas Tuchel.
